چکیده

Due to the specific requirements for low soil pH, new production methods are being introduced highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.). Planting in pots has gained popularity recent years due easier control of substrate pH. This study was carried out on 2-year-old ‘Duke’, ‘Aurora’ and ‘Brigitta’ cultivar plants that were planted along a ridge or pots. The temperature reached higher values pots, while water content ridge. In ‘Duke’ plants, significantly sugar/organic acid ratios obtained fruit from However, total phenolics content, greater plant volumes lower yields per as potted compared harvested had organic content; however, no significant difference seen ratio between conditions. is first compare responses different cultivars terms impact microclimatic conditions, volume yield primary secondary metabolites content.

Processing and Storage Effects on Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) Polyphenolics

Blueberries are commonly consumed in processed forms, but limited information is available on how different processing methods and storage of processed products impact the polyphenolic content of the fruit. In this study, we determined how canning, puréeing and juicing of blueberries, as well as storage of processed products at 25°C, influenced the retention of chlorogenic acid, total flavonols...

Native Bee Diversity and Pollen Foraging Specificity in Cultivated Highbush Blueberry (Ericaceae: Vaccinium corymbosum l.) Plantings in Rhode Island

Approximately 87% of flowering plants in the world are pollinated by animals. Bees are some of the most economically and ecologically important pollinators, necessary for the production of about one third of all crops. One such crop is highbush blueberry, grown throughout Rhode Island in small acreages. I conducted a survey of the bee species foraging on managed blueberry farms throughout Rhode...
